Kent takes against Somerset in the second game of the Vitality T20 Blast 2022, a rematch of last year’s final. The St Lawrence Ground in Canterbury will host this South Group match on May 25.

In the previous season, defending champions Kent finished first in the South Group to qualify for the knockout stages before advancing all the way. This time around, Jordan Cox, Daniel Bell-Drummond, and Darren Stevens will be significant players for them.

The T20 Blast, dubbed the Vitality Blast due to sponsorship commitments, will be in its 20th year when it kicks off on May 25. Before the knockout stages, the league stages will take place from the last week of May until July 3. The T20 Blast semi-final and final will take place on July 16 in Birmingham.

Kent are the defending champions, having won the title in 2021 following a 25-run victory over Somerset in the summit encounter. The finalists from the previous year’s event will compete in the first match of the 2022 tournament.

In 2022, we can expect another entertaining T20 Blast event, with the Notts Outlaws, Somerset, Lancashire Lightning, and Sussex Sharks all seeking to make it to Finals Day on July 16th at Edgbaston, Birmingham.

The Nottingham Outlaws won the championship in 2020, but were eliminated in the Quarter Finals last season. They’ve been a consistent T20 team since 2016, finishing in the top eight in every tournament. Jake Ball, who missed a large amount of previous season but still managed 18 wickets, and bowling all-rounder Calvin Harrison, who got 20 wickets in 2021, are expected to be their key bowling threats. Somerset reached the final in September 2021, but were defeated by Kent Spitfires by 25 runs. The Vitality T20 Blast 2022 kicks underway on May 25 with Kent taking on Somerset in the season opener.

The match is a rematch of the final from the previous season, in which teenage wicketkeeper-batsman Jordan Cox led Kent to a 25-run victory over Somerset in 2021.

The event will include 18 county teams, separated into two divisions – the South Group and the South Group, as in previous years.

Birmingham, Derbyshire, Durham, Lancashire, Leicestershire, Southamptonshire, Nottinghamshire, Worcestershire, and Yorkshire are all part of the South Group.

Holders Kent, Essex, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Glamorgan, Middlesex, Somerset, Surrey, and Sussex make up the South Group.

The 126 games in the group stage will be spread out across 40 days, with the final round-robin matches taking place on Sunday, July 3.

Each team will compete in 14 group-stage matches (seven at home and seven away).

The knockout stage will begin on July 6 and end on July 9, with the quarter-finals taking place on July 6 and 9.

On July 16, the Vitality T20 Blast 2022 semi-finals and final will be place in Edgbaston.

Select matches from the Vitality T20 Blast 2022 will be streamed live on the FanCode app and website in India. The Vitality T20 Blast will not be shown on any Indian television channel.

On TV: Sky Sports will broadcast 19 league matches as well as the knockout phases. Each county will have at least two games broadcast on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Cricket.

Every match that takes place in the competition will be live streamed on the ECB website and app. The competition can be followed on any of the ECB’s social media outlets.
